I recently had the pleasure of an equine photo shoot with Jane Lavington and her wonderful Clydesdale-cross ‘Boston Deluxe’. Like all of my equine clients, we discussed what look and feel Jane wanted for the images. We settled on a mix of unposed and posed images – but all of them with an informal feel. What a star Boston is! Like many athletes, he is aware of his PR duties 😉 and behaved impeccably. It’s interesting how many owners worry that their horses are impolite or naughty when really, they’re a delight. Boston certainly comes into the latter category. If you’d like to find out more of what he’s up to, Boston has his own Facebook page and posts regularly to his 1,245 followers.
Aside from being very photogenic, he has a range of advanced dressage moves and this combination competes at a high level. Boston’s yard provided a beautiful backdrop for a range of images, including some portraits and plenty of action shots! The light was super that evening and we managed to get each shot in the bag first time around.
On the photo front, I used this as an opportunity to try out some new editing processes, with the aim of matching the style and look of the image to the type. Portraits have a lovely, subtle, relaxed look and images with more movement have a bit more ‘punch’.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Jane and Boston and I look forward to seeing their future performances and results.
